The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is set to consider a proposed Rs1.73 per unit increase in electricity prices under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for August 2026.
The regulator will hear a request from the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee (CPPA-G) on September 29. The proposed adjustment would apply to consumers across the country, including K-Electric customers, subject to NEPRA’s final decision.
According to CPPA-G data, distribution companies received 14.464 billion units of electricity during August at an average cost of Rs8.82 per unit. Generation costs from high-speed diesel were around Rs54 per unit, while furnace oil-based generation cost Rs45.25 and imported LNG-based generation stood at Rs45.93 per unit.
The proposed August adjustment follows a Rs2.06 per unit FCA increase for July, which was reflected in consumers’ September electricity bills.
Consumers are also currently paying an additional 52 paise per unit under the quarterly tariff adjustment approved for the second quarter of 2026.
NEPRA will determine the final amount of the August FCA after reviewing the CPPA-G request and relevant generation and fuel cost data.
