Gold prices moved higher on Thursday as the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields eased, while investors turned their attention to the closely watched U.S. nonfarm payrolls report due later this week for clues on the Federal Reserve's next policy direction.
Spot gold gained 0.5% to $4,409.97 per ounce by 0219 GMT, recovering after falling to a near one-month low in the previous session.
A softer dollar makes gold more affordable for buyers holding other currencies, while lower Treasury yields reduce the opportunity cost of holding the non-yielding precious metal.
Market participants are now closely monitoring the U.S. nonfarm payrolls data scheduled for Friday, which could play a key role in shaping expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's future interest-rate decisions.
Meanwhile, investors are also assessing broader economic and geopolitical developments, including recent signals on U.S. economic activity and efforts to contain tensions surrounding the conflict with Iran.
