Balochistan approves $14bn Tri-State Gas Terminal project in Gwadar

The Balochistan cabinet has approved the establishment of a USD 14 billion Tri-State Gas Terminal in Gwadar, to be developed with investment from Turkmenistan, while directing the Senior Member Board of Revenue to safeguard the province's interests throughout the project.

 

Announcing the decision after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, provincial ministers said the terminal is expected to supply natural gas to Gwadar, Panjgur, Chagai and Washuk, strengthening energy access in the region.

 

The cabinet also renewed the no-objection certificate (NOC) for the PARCO Coastal Refinery project, subject to payment of land charges at prevailing market rates and commencement of investment within two years.

 

Separately, the cabinet approved the release of PKR 858 million for security arrangements covering seven projects under the South Balochistan Package and endorsed the completion of the Sibi-Harnai Road on an 80:20 cost-sharing basis with the federal government.

 

Other key decisions included granting university status to Tameer-e-Nau College, establishing a Child Protection Helpline, approving the Balochistan Child Protection Rules 2026, renewing the Quetta Safe City Project agreement, and granting ownership rights to residents of Kalanch and New Town in Gwadar.

 

Reaffirming its commitment to improving security, the provincial government said it would continue taking decisive action against militant groups, while officials confirmed that damaged Safe City cameras in Quetta would be restored within 10 days and investigations into the recent Patel Road blast remain underway.
