Aurangzeb Reviews Pakistan’s Macroeconomic Performance with IMF Officials

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a series of meetings with senior International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials to review Pakistan's macroeconomic performance and progress under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), and the broader IMF-backed reform programme.

During the discussions, Aurangzeb highlighted improvements in Pakistan's fiscal and external accounts, achievement of revenue targets, stronger foreign exchange reserves, record remittance inflows, and a healthier current account position.

The meetings also covered ongoing reforms in taxation and the energy sector, privatization, tariff rationalization, debt management, diversification of financing sources, and Pakistan's plans to re-enter international capital markets.

Both sides exchanged views on human capital development, women's economic participation, demographic trends, technology-driven growth, and promoting private sector-led, export-oriented economic development.

Aurangzeb thanked the IMF for acknowledging Pakistan's commitment to its reform agenda and reaffirmed the government's resolve to maintain fiscal discipline, strengthen policy credibility, implement structural reforms, and support long-term economic transformation.
