Trump Says US Is Taking a Low-Key Approach Toward Iran, Highlights Economic Pressure

After months of US military strikes, sanctions and a blockade against Iran, President Donald Trump said Sunday that Washington is taking a low-key approach while watching economic pressure build on Tehran, according to an interview with Axios.

Trump said the US is only partially engaged in negotiations with Iran and is instead closely monitoring the country’s worsening economic situation. He pointed to Iran’s high inflation and lack of financial resources as signs that the pressure is mounting.
