Sindh has called for priority gas supplies to industries in the province, arguing that uninterrupted gas and electricity are essential for industrial growth. Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said the province, being Pakistan’s largest gas-producing region, should receive preferential access to gas for its industrial sector.
Speaking to representatives of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Dharejo said the provincial government is working to improve the business and investment environment and address concerns raised by industrialists.
The government plans to make the One-Window Operation fully functional to simplify business processes and reduce the need for companies to deal with multiple departments. It also intends to limit unnecessary government intervention in industrial zones and improve infrastructure.
Dharejo said Sindh needs new industrial zones to expand its industrial base. The provincial government is considering allowing representative bodies of industrialists to manage and administer new zones, while development funds could also be provided to existing industrial-zone associations for infrastructure improvements.
The minister added that the government would consider providing industrial land at reasonable prices to encourage investment, create employment and strengthen Sindh’s economy.
