SIFC secures USD 200m investment for Khuzdar mining project

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has helped clear long-standing hurdles for the Barite-Lead-Zinc (BLZ) Project in Khuzdar, Balochistan, paving the way for a USD 200 million strategic investment in Pakistan's mining sector.

The project is being developed by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in partnership with Bolan Mining Enterprises (BME), with PPL acting as the operator and holding a 50% stake.

Located in Khuzdar, the project is estimated to contain 69 million tonnes of mineral reserves and has an expected mine life of 34 years. It is projected to generate annual revenues of USD 150–230 million, while supporting mineral exports, creating jobs, and contributing to Balochistan's economic development.

According to the statement, SIFC facilitated the resolution of lease-related issues that had delayed the project, enabling implementation to begin following the signing of an operational agreement during the Pakistan Minerals Forum 2025.

The government said the progress reflects its commitment to improving the investment climate, removing regulatory obstacles, and accelerating the sustainable development of Pakistan's mineral resources, with SIFC playing a key role in attracting strategic investment and strengthening investor confidence.
