Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $1.21 billion to $18.33 billion during the week ended September 4, 2026, mainly due to the receipt of government commercial loan proceeds.
According to the SBP’s weekly reserves statement, the country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $23.72 billion as of September 4.
The SBP held $18.33 billion, while commercial banks’ net foreign exchange reserves stood at $5.39 billion.
The central bank said its reserves increased by $1.21 billion during the week following the receipt of commercial loan proceeds by the Government of Pakistan.
The latest increase follows a $19 million rise in SBP reserves during the previous week, when holdings reached $17.12 billion.
