SBP: Around $6bn in External Debt Rolled Over in July

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad said Pakistan has already secured the rollover of around $6 billion in external debt from friendly countries in July, easing financing pressures and supporting the country's external position.

The SBP projects Pakistan's external debt servicing requirement to decline to $21.5 billion in FY27, down from $26.5 billion in FY26, driven by lower financing costs, an improved debt profile, and a greater reliance on long-term and multilateral financing.

According to the governor, around $10–11 billion of principal repayments due in FY27 are expected to be rolled over or refinanced, reducing net repayments to about $7.5 billion. He added that Pakistan's improving debt structure, lower forward liabilities, and stronger investor confidence have further strengthened the country's external financing outlook.
