The Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) have signed an agreement to enhance scientific cooperation, including analytical support for OGDC’s lithium extraction initiative.
Under the contract, PINSTECH will provide OGDC with elemental profiling and radioactive-element analysis services to support its mineral exploration and lithium-related activities.
The agreement was signed by PINSTECH Director General Dr Qamar-ul-Haque and OGDC General Manager, Supply Chain Management Department, Ejaz Abbas Rizvi.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Member (Science) Dr Shakeel Abbas Rofi and OGDC Managing Director and CEO Ahmed Hayat Lak.
Officials said the agreement would combine PINSTECH’s scientific and analytical capabilities with OGDC’s expertise to support emerging opportunities in Pakistan’s mineral and energy sectors.
During the event, PINSTECH’s Spectrometry Group Head Munib Ahmed Shafique briefed participants on the institute’s elemental analysis capabilities, while OGDC’s Shagufta Shafique, JE (Production), outlined the company’s diversification plans and lithium extraction initiative being pursued in collaboration with PINSTECH.
Established in 1965, PINSTECH is a research and development institute operating under PAEC. The collaboration is aimed at supporting the development of indigenous mineral resources and advancing related national objectives.
