Pakistan has presented a $4.85 billion climate investment plan to Chinese officials and business leaders, seeking to mobilise Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) financing, Chinese technology and private-sector investment for climate-resilient and green development.
The plan includes an investor book featuring 69 projects across eight priority sectors, designed to connect Pakistan’s Climate Prosperity Plan with the BRI and the Green Investment and Finance Partnership.
Officials said the initiative aims to turn climate priorities into commercially viable projects while improving access to affordable financing, technology and implementation partnerships. Chinese representatives expressed support for greater cooperation in green investment and highlighted opportunities for Chinese companies to participate in Pakistan’s climate-related projects.
The initiative will be further promoted at CIFTIS 2026 in Beijing from September 9-13, where CVF-V20 countries are expected to showcase investment projects and partnership opportunities to Chinese institutions and investors.
Pakistan hopes the initiative will help attract investment, create jobs, strengthen climate resilience and support long-term green economic growth.
