July exports rise 10% YoY

Pakistan's exports rose 10% year-on-year to USD 2.96 billion in July 2026, up from USD 2.69 billion a year earlier, marking a strong start to FY2026-27, according to the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA).

Textile exports, which account for around 62% of total exports, increased 9% YoY to USD 1.83 billion, with the PTEA describing the performance as an encouraging start while highlighting significant room for further growth.

The association noted that imports of capital goods (+43%) and raw materials (+23%) reflected investment and export-oriented production. However, it raised concerns over a 27% increase in consumer goods imports, warning that consumption-led imports could widen the trade deficit without strengthening future export capacity.

The PTEA called for structural reforms to improve Pakistan's export competitiveness, urging the government to ensure policy consistency and address issues including energy costs, tax refunds, logistics, and the broader export ecosystem.
