The government is expected to increase electricity tariffs by Rs1.20 per unit for June 2026 under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) mechanism, according to official sources.
The proposed adjustment follows the submission of June's power generation data by the Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).
Officials attributed the higher FCA primarily to lower hydropower generation, forced outages at several thermal power plants, and greater reliance on costlier furnace oil and re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) for electricity generation.
Nepra is scheduled to hold a public hearing before deciding on the final FCA adjustment, which will apply to consumers of power distribution companies (Discos) and K-Electric.
