Gold prices edged higher on Tuesday as a softer U.S. dollar increased the metal's appeal, while investors awaited key U.S. inflation data that could provide clues about the Federal Reserve's next monetary policy decision.
Spot gold rose 0.6% to $4,429.89 per ounce as of 0208 GMT. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures for December delivery remained largely unchanged at $4,475.10 per ounce.
Market participants are closely watching the upcoming U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) data due on Friday, which could influence expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's future interest rate trajectory.
Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions remained elevated after Iran issued fresh threats against the United States, while silver prices also recorded gains, rising around 1%.
