Gold extends gains as oil weakens, dollar softens ahead of US jobs data

Gold prices rose for a third consecutive session on Wednesday, supported by a weaker US dollar and lower oil prices, as investors awaited upcoming US employment data for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.

Spot gold gained 1.3% to USD 4,127.04 per ounce, while US gold futures rose 0.8% to USD 4,184.40.

Market sentiment was also supported by easing geopolitical concerns after Qatar reported progress in mediation efforts to end the US-Iran conflict, while investors monitored comments from Federal Reserve officials for further guidance on monetary policy.
