GasLog says LNG tanker stable after Strait of Hormuz incident

Greek shipping company GasLog said its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier GasLog Shanghai remains stable after an incident while exiting the Strait of Hormuz, with all crew members safe and accounted for.

The company said the incident occurred on July 31 and that its emergency response plan was immediately activated, with relevant authorities notified. An assessment of the vessel's condition is ongoing, although GasLog did not disclose the nature of the incident or confirm whether the ship or its cargo sustained any damage.

According to vessel-tracking data, the GasLog Shanghai loaded an LNG cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan export terminal on July 27–28 before transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel was later observed outside the strategic waterway and is currently located off Oman's Musandam Peninsula near the entrance to the Strait.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route through which a significant share of the world's LNG and oil exports passes.
