FinMin Muhammad Aurangzeb unveils Economic Survey FY26

Pakistan’s provisional GDP growth stood at 3.7% in FY26, below the 4.2% target.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is presenting the Pakistan Economic Survey (PES) FY2025-26 ahead of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Presented a day before the budget, the document highlights the performance of key government sectors in the outgoing fiscal year.

According to official documents, Pakistan’s provisional GDP growth stood at 3.7% in FY26, below the 4.2% target.

The survey shows that the size of the economy increased by 11.3% to Rs126.9 trillion. In dollar terms, the economy expanded by $43.9 billion to reach $452.1 billion, compared with $408.2 billion in the previous fiscal year.

Per capita annual income rose by $150 to $1,901, up from $1,751 recorded last year. In local currency terms, per capita income increased to Rs533,629 from Rs489,118 a year earlier.

The education sector recorded growth of 5.23%, exceeding its target of 4.5%, according to the survey. Meanwhile, the health and social services sector grew by 6.86%, significantly surpassing its target of 4%, the document showed.
