ECC Approves Export Finance Incentive Package

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved three export finance subsidy schemes aimed at boosting exports, enhancing competitiveness, and increasing foreign exchange earnings.

Chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the ECC approved an enhanced EXIM-administered Export Finance Scheme (E-EFS), a new Long-Term Export Growth Financing Facility (LTEGFF), and a performance-based rebate on incremental exports. The package offers fixed low-rate financing, strengthens support for exporters and importers, and places special emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The committee directed the Finance Division to present a performance review of the schemes after six months to assess their effectiveness.

Separately, the ECC approved a Rs4 billion Technical Supplementary Grant to meet expenses related to international arbitration proceedings involving independent power producers (IPPs). It also approved proposals relating to pension payments for retired GENCO employees, the declaration of the Pab reservoir in the Rehman-8 ST-3 well as a Tight Gas Reservoir, EOBI budget estimates, and tariff fixation for indigenous gas supplies to RLNG-based power plants.
