Pakistan's total cement dispatches, including domestic sales and exports, declined 0.70% year-on-year to 4.039 million tonnes in August, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).
Domestic cement dispatches fell 1.07% YoY to 3.283 million tonnes during the month, while exports recorded a marginal increase of 0.92% to 756,553 tonnes.
Despite the decline in August, cumulative cement dispatches during the first two months of FY2026-27 increased by 2% to 8.521 million tonnes. Domestic sales rose 8% to 7.058 million tonnes during July-August, whereas exports dropped 16.69% to 1.464 million tonnes.
The APCMA expressed concern over the impact of heavy rains and flooding, particularly in Pakistan's northern regions, saying that agriculture and housing had been severely affected and required government support.
Meanwhile, Adeel Ashraf of Topline Securities attributed the decline in August cement sales to several factors, including higher ex-factory cement prices, an increase in diesel costs and disruptions caused by monsoon rains.
The monthly decline highlights the continued pressure on construction activity and cement demand, although growth in cumulative domestic dispatches during the first two months of the fiscal year indicates some resilience in the local market.
