BMG Calls for Greater Focus on Karachi’s Economic and Business Issues

The Businessmen Group (BMG), which is contesting the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) elections for the 2026–28 term, has reiterated its focus on issues affecting Karachi’s traders and industrialists.

Speaking at a dinner reception held in support of its candidates, BMG Chairman and former KCCI president Muhammad Zubair Motiwala said the group would continue raising concerns related to Karachi’s trade, industry, infrastructure and broader economic development.

Motiwala urged members of the business community to support BMG’s candidates in the corporate and associate categories. He highlighted the group’s long-standing presence in KCCI and its engagement with provincial and federal authorities.

He also raised concerns about Karachi’s infrastructure and municipal services, arguing that the city’s economic contribution warrants greater attention to its civic and industrial requirements.

Federal Minister for Investment and former KCCI leader Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh also called for greater focus on Karachi’s trade, industrial and infrastructure needs. He said the city’s economic potential remained underutilised and urged the business community to take a more active role in addressing its economic and civic concerns.

BMG Vice Chairmen Anjum Nisar and Jawed Bilwani discussed the group’s initiatives for trade and industrial development and outlined priorities for the coming period.

The KCCI elections for the 2026–28 term are scheduled for September 26, with voting to take place from 9:00am to 5:30pm. The election will cover 30 executive committee seats, with 15 seats each in the corporate and associate categories.
