The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to send a mission to Pakistan in the coming weeks for the next review of the country’s $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
IMF Resident Representative to Pakistan Mahir Banici said the mission will conduct the next programme review alongside Article IV consultations. The upcoming discussions will cover the fourth EFF review and third RSF review.
If a staff-level agreement is reached and subsequently approved by the IMF Executive Board, Pakistan is expected to gain access to around $1 billion under the EFF and $200 million under the RSF.
Pakistan has so far received approximately $4.8 billion under the two arrangements. The IMF mission is likely to begin discussions with State Bank of Pakistan officials in Karachi before moving to Islamabad for talks with the government’s economic team.
