Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are expected to begin the fourth review of the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on September 22, alongside the IMF’s Article IV consultations.
The discussions are scheduled to take place in Karachi and Islamabad and are expected to continue for around two weeks.
IMF Resident Mission Chief Mahir Binci confirmed that an IMF mission is expected to visit Pakistan in the coming weeks for the programme review and Article IV consultations.
As part of preparations, Pakistan has submitted revised monthly and annual import data to address discrepancies worth billions of dollars. The IMF is also expected to assess the government’s implementation plan for the Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Assessment (GCD) report.
