Japan's largest power producer, JERA, said it has secured sufficient liquefied natural gas (LNG) inventories through October, ensuring stable electricity supplies during the peak summer demand season.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Masato Otaki, Executive Officer at JERA, said the company has built adequate LNG stockpiles to meet demand from August to October, even if extreme summer temperatures drive higher electricity consumption.
"We have secured sufficient LNG stocks for the peak summer demand season from August to October, and there are no issues regarding stable power supply," Otaki said.
The assurance comes amid ongoing concerns over global LNG markets and potential supply disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions, although JERA said it currently sees no risk to Japan's power supply during the summer period.
