Govt raises petrol price by Rs1.09/litre, diesel by Rs2.42/litre

The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.09 and Rs2.42 per litre, respectively, with the revised rates taking effect from Friday, August 1.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices under the government's petroleum pricing mechanism.

Following the revision, the price of petrol has risen from Rs335.06 to Rs336.15 per litre, while HSD has increased from Rs390.62 to Rs393.04 per litre.

The latest adjustment follows the previous fortnightly review, in which the government reduced petrol prices by Re0.75 per litre but raised HSD prices by Rs2.24 per litre, reflecting changes in international oil prices and other pricing components.
