Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic have reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a strategic partnership, with a strong focus on expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The understanding was reached during President Asif Ali Zardari's official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from July 6–9, 2026, at the invitation of President Sadyr Zhaparov. According to a joint statement, the two leaders held comprehensive discussions in an atmosphere of mutual trust and friendship, expressing satisfaction with the steady progress in bilateral relations.
Both presidents pledged to deepen cooperation and ensure the timely implementation of agreements signed during President Zhaparov's visit to Pakistan in December 2025. They also agreed to strengthen political dialogue, expand high-level exchanges, and enhance coordination between their governments, parliaments, and foreign ministries.
The two sides directed their respective ministries and agencies to accelerate efforts to boost trade, investment, and business-to-business collaboration while improving the effectiveness of the Kyrgyz-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and its Joint Working Groups.
Energy cooperation featured prominently in the talks, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to the timely implementation of the CASA-1000 project. They also identified significant opportunities for collaboration in mining, agriculture, textiles, halal products, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, digital technologies, tourism, banking, transport, and logistics.
In the pharmaceutical sector, the two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in medical education, regulatory harmonization, vaccine production, and joint ventures while facilitating market access through closer coordination between drug regulatory authorities.
The leaders also emphasized expanding cooperation in education, science, culture, tourism, youth exchanges, and public health to strengthen people-to-people ties.
On regional security, Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation against terrorism, extremism, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, cybercrime, and irregular migration. They agreed to continue working together at international forums, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to promote regional peace and combat terrorism.
The two countries also stressed the importance of resolving international disputes through peaceful dialogue in accordance with the UN Charter and opposed unilateral economic sanctions, describing them as harmful to global food and energy security and sustainable development.
President Zhaparov thanked Pakistan for supporting Kyrgyzstan's successful election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028, while President Zardari congratulated the Kyrgyz Republic on its achievement. Kyrgyzstan also acknowledged Pakistan's contributions to international peace and security during its 2025–2026 term on the Security Council and welcomed Pakistan's mediation efforts in the Middle East.
The Kyrgyz Republic invited Pakistan to participate in the VI World Nomad Games, scheduled to be held from August 31 to September 7, 2026. Pakistan accepted the invitation and confirmed it would send a high-level delegation and sports teams.
At the conclusion of the visit, President Zardari thanked President Zhaparov and the people of the Kyrgyz Republic for their warm hospitality and invited the Kyrgyz President to undertake an official visit to Pakistan, which was accepted. The dates of the visit will be finalized through diplomatic channels.
