Pakistan FDI Rises 24% to $495 Million in 2MFY27

Pakistan’s net foreign direct investment (FDI) increased 24% year-on-year (YoY) to $495 million during the first two months of FY27, supported by a strong rise in inflows during August, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data.
 
FDI reached $316 million in August, up 80% YoY and 77% month-on-month (MoM), with the power and financial services sectors recording the largest inflows during the month.
 
During July-August, the financial services sector attracted $147 million, compared with $113 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the power sector received $145 million, down from $157 million a year earlier.
 
China remained the largest source of FDI, with inflows rising to $176 million in 2MFY27 from $121 million a year earlier. Investment from the UAE also increased to $58 million, compared with $35 million during the same period last year.
 
Canada also remained among the major contributors to Pakistan’s FDI during the period.
