A planned meeting between Iran and Gulf countries in Oman to discuss possible arrangements for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said.
The meeting, which was scheduled for Monday, was intended to discuss potential agreements aimed at easing maritime tensions and establishing arrangements for commercial traffic through the strategically important waterway.
Albusaidi announced the postponement without providing a specific reason or a new date for the talks. The delay comes as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain elevated and disruptions to regional shipping continue to raise concerns over global energy supplies.
The postponement adds uncertainty to diplomatic efforts aimed at improving the security of one of the world's most important oil transit routes, through which a significant share of global energy supplies normally passes.
