Oil Prices Slip 1% as Markets Expect Limited Supply Disruptions

Oil prices declined around 1% on Friday, extending losses for a third consecutive session, as expectations of alternative routes for Middle Eastern crude supplies outweighed concerns over fresh strikes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis.

Brent crude futures fell $1.01, or 1%, to $103.77 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined $1.03, or 1%, to $100.88 a barrel by 0020 GMT. Both benchmarks had also dropped about 1% in the previous session.

The decline came despite reports of fresh cross-border strikes and damage to three East-West oil pipeline pumping stations, highlighting continued uncertainty around regional supply flows.

Market participants remain focused on the extent to which disruptions in the Middle East could affect global crude availability, while JPMorgan said heightened uncertainty has made it difficult to establish a clear baseline outlook for the oil market.
