Gold Rebounds Over 2% as Dollar and Oil Prices Ease

Gold prices rose more than 2% on Thursday, recovering from a nearly six-week low in the previous session, supported by a weaker US dollar and declining oil prices as markets assessed the Federal Reserve’s latest interest-rate decision.

Spot gold climbed 2.3% to $4,360.36 per ounce by 1:45 p.m. EDT (1745 GMT), while US gold futures for December delivery settled 0.3% higher at $4,399.70.

The decline in the US dollar and 10-year Treasury yields provided additional support to the precious metal. Oil prices also fell to a one-week low, easing concerns over inflationary pressures and contributing to the recovery in gold.

The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate on Wednesday to a 3.75%–4.00% range, with investors now assessing the implications of the latest policy move for interest rates, the dollar and broader financial markets.
