Gold Gains Over 1% as Markets Assess Fed Rate Hike

Gold prices climbed more than 1% on Thursday as investors assessed the Federal Reserve’s latest rate hike and its signal that further monetary tightening could follow.

Spot gold rose 1.1% to $4,310.49 per ounce by 0149 GMT, recovering from a near six-week low reached in the previous session.

The rebound came despite the Fed’s hawkish policy outlook, which typically puts pressure on non-yielding assets such as gold. Investors also monitored the easing momentum in oil prices after the recent rally, reducing some concerns over an extended energy-driven inflation shock.

Markets are also watching the Bank of England, which is expected to keep interest rates unchanged, although higher energy prices have increased expectations of potential further tightening.
