Ferozsons Laboratories Limited (PSX: FEROZ) has entered into a royalty-free voluntary licensing agreement with Gilead Sciences for once-yearly lenacapavir, an HIV prevention treatment being developed as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
The agreement expands Ferozsons’ existing licensing arrangement for twice-yearly lenacapavir and covers 120 high-incidence countries, mainly low- and lower-middle-income markets.
Under the agreement, Ferozsons will support manufacturing readiness, technology transfer and future supply planning, while the company’s Phase 3 PURPOSE 365 trial remains ongoing.
If approved, once-yearly lenacapavir could provide a full year of HIV prevention through a single dose, potentially expanding access to long-acting PrEP options.
Ferozsons said it is among six global partners to have signed the expanded voluntary licensing agreement with Gilead to manufacture generic lenacapavir.
Lenacapavir is already approved in multiple countries as a twice-yearly PrEP option and for treating multi-drug-resistant HIV in combination with other antiretroviral medicines.
