Govt approves export of 200,000 tonnes of surplus sugar

The government has approved the export of 200,000 metric tonnes of surplus sugar and formed a monitoring committee to keep track of domestic sugar prices.
 
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for the Export of Surplus Sugar, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
 
The committee finalised the arrangements for exporting the surplus sugar and directed the relevant ministries to speed up the implementation process.
 
The newly formed monitoring committee will regularly review domestic sugar prices to assess the impact of exports on the local market.
