The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and Portugal’s Ambassador Paulo Domingues have discussed ways to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal, with a focus on several key sectors.
The discussions covered investment opportunities in textiles, agriculture, information technology, pharmaceuticals and Special Economic Zones (SEZs), according to an SIFC statement.
SIFC briefed the Portuguese envoy on Pakistan’s investment potential and its framework for facilitating both domestic and foreign investors. The council said its role includes coordinating with federal, provincial and sector-specific stakeholders to streamline investment processes and develop commercially viable projects.
The meeting also highlighted growing business and institutional links between the two countries.
Among the developments discussed was the launch of FC Porto’s Dragon Force Academy in Sialkot in partnership with Forward Sports. The academy brings the Portuguese football club’s youth development programme to Pakistan and adds another dimension to bilateral institutional and commercial ties.
SIFC said continued engagement with international partners could help identify viable investment projects and strengthen connections between Pakistani and Portuguese businesses.
The council also stressed the potential for greater cooperation through sector-specific investment opportunities, business partnerships and stronger private-sector linkages.
