The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has finalised agreements to import 365,000 metric tons of wheat and issued a fresh tender for an additional 185,000 metric tons to meet domestic requirements.
The move is part of the government’s revised wheat import plan, which has been reduced to 550,000 metric tons from the earlier target of 750,000 tons after provinces lowered their estimated requirements.
TCP received nine responsive bids in its first tender, covering 656,000 metric tons, with prices ranging from $348.83 to $369.95 per metric ton. The lowest offer came from Agrocorp at $348.83 per ton for 55,000 tons.
Following an evaluation of the bids, TCP accepted the lowest price and offered the same rate to other responsive bidders. Six additional bidders agreed to match the price, resulting in contracts with seven suppliers for a combined 365,000 tons.
Under the agreed terms, suppliers are required to ship the wheat between October 11 and October 31, with the consignments expected to reach Pakistan by November 20, 2026.
TCP has now invited international suppliers to bid for a further 185,000 metric tons of wheat on a CFR Karachi or Gwadar basis. Bids for quantities below 60,000 tons will not be considered.
The second tender will open on September 28, 2026, with technical and financial bids scheduled for evaluation on the same day, subject to completion of the technical assessment.
The wheat imports are being arranged following lower domestic crop output and requests from provinces to maintain adequate supplies and prevent potential shortages in the local market.
