Naqvi Set to Visit Iran as Tehran Outlines Conditions for Hormuz Reopening

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to visit Iran for talks as Tehran says it has conveyed its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to the United States through mediators.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington had been informed of Tehran’s demands, adding that the Strait would remain closed until Iran’s conditions were met and US commitments were honoured.

Iranian officials have said their key demands include an end to the conflict on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds and an end to the naval blockade. The conditions were reportedly communicated to Washington through Qatar.

Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, warned that Iran is now better prepared for a potential renewed conflict. He said Tehran had strengthened its missile capabilities, air-defence systems and electronic warfare capacity.

Iran’s military command also warned that any new US attack would trigger sustained strikes against American bases and interests across the region.

The developments come as uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz continues to weigh on global oil markets, with analysts warning that the eventual resolution of the standoff remains difficult to model.
