Karachi Port’s liner shipping connectivity reached a record high in the second quarter of 2026, with its Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) rising to 343.02 from 309.81 in the previous quarter.
According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the latest score represents Karachi Port’s highest connectivity level in the available data, which covers around 900 ports worldwide.
The PLSCI had stood at 329.24 in Q2 2024 before declining through late 2024 and much of 2025. It recovered to 321.91 in Q4 2025 before falling to 309.81 in Q1 2026.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Mohammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the improvement reflected stronger links between Pakistan’s main port and international liner shipping services. He added that enhanced maritime connectivity could support trade flows, improve access to global markets and create opportunities for exporters and importers.
Pakistan’s overall Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) ranking also improved from 35th to 34th, according to the ministry.
The government said it would continue working with port authorities, shipping lines and other stakeholders to improve port services, facilitate shipping activity and strengthen Pakistan’s maritime links with international markets.
