Pakistan invites Chinese manufacturers to set up joint ventures

Pakistan has invited Chinese manufacturers and investors to establish joint ventures and production facilities in the country, particularly in chemicals, dyes, agro-chemicals, biotechnology and other value-added industries.

The invitation was made by Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) Chairman Salim Valimuhammad during the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and the IBI 99 Global Business Linkage Festival in Beijing.

He said the next phase of Pakistan-China economic cooperation should focus on joint industrial production rather than mainly trading finished goods.

Valimuhammad said Pakistan’s dyes and chemicals industry is closely connected with the country’s $20 billion textile, leather and coatings export sector. Pakistan imports more than $1.5 billion of dyes and chemicals every year, with around 85% of these imports coming from China.

He invited Chinese companies to explore joint ventures in textile dyes and auxiliaries, reactive and disperse dyes, crop-protection products, biotechnology, coatings, adhesives and specialty chemicals. Opportunities also exist in products such as sodium hydrosulphite, sodium sulphite, citric acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

According to the PCDMA chairman, Pakistan’s agriculture sector also offers investment opportunities. The crop-protection market is valued at more than Rs100 billion, while the country continues to import a significant portion of pesticide active ingredients.

He said Chinese investment and technology could help Pakistan develop local production, reduce reliance on imports and create opportunities to export to regional markets.

Valimuhammad also pointed to opportunities in hydrogen peroxide, coatings and adhesives as construction and industrial activity increases.

He encouraged Chinese businesses to use investment platforms including the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and CPEC special economic zones, which offer serviced industrial land, streamlined approvals, fiscal incentives and support for foreign investors.

PCDMA is also seeking to expand its role from trading to facilitating joint ventures, manufacturing projects, technology transfers and investment partnerships between Chinese and Pakistani companies.

The association said it had already signed memorandums of understanding with SIEM and CCPIT at China InterDye 2026 in Shanghai and is working to connect Chinese investors with Pakistani business partners and industrial buyers.
