The Pakistani government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices by Rs4.10 and Rs6.41 per litre, respectively, in the latest adjustment announced by the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division.
Following the increase, petrol will now cost Rs384.34 per litre, up from Rs380.24, while the price of HSD has risen from Rs409.42 to Rs415.83 per litre.
The latest adjustment marks the seventh consecutive increase in petroleum prices. Since September 1, petrol prices have climbed by Rs41.55 per litre, while HSD has become Rs45.42 per litre more expensive.
The latest revision comes as international oil prices continue to rise amid concerns over potential disruptions to global supplies. Oil prices gained nearly $3 on Tuesday after reports indicated that crude loadings at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port of Yanbu had been suspended, while Libya halted operations at three oil fields.
Brent crude rose $2.81, or 2.66%, to $108.49 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased $3.29 to $104.68 per barrel.
If the gains persist, both benchmarks could finish at their highest levels in nearly four months.
