Oil Prices Set to Close Week Above $100 Amid Middle East Supply Concerns

Oil prices climbed on Friday, with Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude on track to finish the week above $100 per barrel for the first time since mid-May.

The gains came as escalating attacks along key shipping routes in the Middle East raised concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies and the possibility of a prolonged supply shock.

Brent crude futures increased $1.05, or 1%, to $108.68 per barrel by 0045 GMT, while U.S. WTI crude rose 95 cents, also 1%, to $103.45 per barrel. Both benchmarks had gained more than 6% in the previous session.

The sustained rise in crude prices highlights growing market concerns over the security of energy supply routes in the region.
