Global digital operator VEON has reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in Pakistan's telecommunications and digital sector, describing the country as a key strategic growth market.
The development came during a meeting between VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioğlu, JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman.
The discussions focused on Pakistan's digital transformation, continued investment in telecommunications infrastructure, service quality and the need for a supportive regulatory environment.
The VEON and JazzWorld leadership welcomed progress made through Pakistan's recent spectrum auction and 5G licensing process. The availability of additional spectrum has enabled JazzWorld to accelerate the expansion of its 4G and 5G networks.
JazzWorld has already surpassed 1,000 live 5G sites and aims to expand the network to more than 2,500 sites by the end of 2026.
“Pakistan remains a strategic growth market for VEON, and JazzWorld is committed to investing in its digital future,” VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioğlu said, stressing the importance of sustained investment and policies that support a healthy telecom sector.
Pakistan remains one of VEON's key markets, where JazzWorld serves more than 71 million subscribers, including over 43.9 million 4G users across the country.
Aamir Ibrahim said the company's focus was on translating investments in 4G and 5G infrastructure into improved service quality and greater digital inclusion, adding that continued collaboration between industry stakeholders and regulators would be essential to sustain progress.
The meeting also discussed JazzWorld's expansion beyond traditional connectivity services, with its broader digital ecosystem covering financial services, banking, insurance, technology and other digital solutions.
Both VEON and JazzWorld reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the PTA to encourage sustainable investment, improve network connectivity and service quality, and support the continued growth of Pakistan's digital economy.
