Oil poised for biggest weekly gain since mid-July amid escalating US-Iran tensions

Oil prices edged higher on Friday and were on track to record their sharpest weekly gain since mid-July, as escalating tensions between the United States and Iran raised concerns over potential disruptions to Middle Eastern energy supplies.

Brent crude futures gained 15 cents, or 0.2%, to $95.67 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 26 cents, or 0.3%, to $91.56 per barrel.

The gains come as renewed hostilities between Washington and Tehran fuel concerns over supply risks in the Middle East, a region critical to global oil production and exports.
