Oil slips as markets assess uncertainty over potential U.S.-Iran strikes

Oil prices edged lower on Thursday as investors assessed uncertainty surrounding the possibility of renewed military action between the United States and Iran, with concerns persisting over potential disruptions to energy supplies from the Middle East.

Brent crude futures declined by 43 cents, or 0.45%, to $95.20 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell by 24 cents, or 0.26%, to $90.77 per barrel.

Markets remained focused on developments surrounding tensions between Washington and Tehran, as any escalation in hostilities could threaten oil production and shipping routes in the strategically important Middle East.

The region accounts for a significant share of global crude production and exports, making geopolitical tensions a key driver of volatility in international oil markets.
