Power Division Moves to Clear Net-Metering Application Backlog

The Power Division has directed power distribution companies and the Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) to take immediate steps to clear the backlog of pending net-metering applications in line with recent directives from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).

 

The instructions cover cases where consumers had paid their demand notices, obtained net-metering licences, completed physical meter replacement or reprogramming, and received connection orders before February 9, 2026.

 

Distribution companies and PITC have been instructed to verify pending applications, with particular focus on confirming demand-notice payments made before the February 9 cut-off date.

 

Consumers who completed all required formalities within the prescribed timeframe are expected to receive clearance without unnecessary procedural delays.

 

PITC will also review its billing systems and software to ensure eligible connections completed before the cut-off date are properly updated and incorporated into the system.

 

The Power Division said the verification process is intended to ensure accurate and fair implementation of Nepra’s directives while protecting consumer rights and allowing genuine pending applications to be processed quickly.

 

The division will monitor implementation across all power distribution companies.
