Government Launches PRIE Scheme to Boost Export Growth

The federal government has introduced the Performance-Based Rebate on Incremental Exports (PRIE) to encourage exporters to increase overseas sales, offering rebates of up to 2% on incremental exports from July 1, 2026.

Under the scheme, exporters of both goods and services will qualify for rebates based on their annual export growth compared with the previous fiscal year.

Export growth of up to 10%: 1% rebate on incremental exports.
Export growth of more than 10%: 2% rebate on incremental exports.
Exporters recording no annual growth will not qualify.

The rebate will be calculated in Pakistani rupees using the weighted average customer buying exchange rate published by the State Bank of Pakistan on the payment date. Export proceeds received in currencies other than the US dollar will be converted into USD based on the applicable exchange rate on the date of realisation.

The scheme will operate on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal-year basis. Eligible exporters may receive 75% of the applicable rebate provisionally on a quarterly basis when quarterly exports exceed the average quarterly exports of the preceding year.

Final adjustments will be made after the fiscal year ends. If annual exports fail to exceed the previous year’s level, provisional rebates paid during the year will be recovered through designated banks and returned to the SBP.

The government expects the performance-linked incentive to encourage exporters to expand international sales and contribute to stronger overall export growth.
