Car Sales Jump 141% in July

Pakistan’s car sales surged 141% year-on-year to 17,216 units in July 2026, compared with 7,135 units in the same month last year, marking a strong start to FY27.

Industry experts attributed the sharp increase to easier bank leasing policies and lower interest rates, which have made vehicle financing more attractive for consumers.

Meanwhile, truck sales jumped 169% to 854 units, while bus sales rose 14% to 65 units. Sales of jeeps and pickups, however, declined 33% to 2,602 units.

Two- and three-wheeler sales also increased 40.7% to 177,089 units, while tractor sales edged up 4% to 1,242 units, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

Analysts said stronger auto financing and improving economic conditions supported demand, while highlighting the need for greater localisation of vehicles and auto parts to strengthen the domestic industry.
