Pakistan, US hold trade talks in Washington on reciprocal trade agreement

Pakistan and the United States are holding negotiations in Washington this week on a proposed reciprocal trade agreement, as the two countries seek to strengthen commercial ties and address market access issues.
 
The talks, taking place on Thursday and Friday, are being led by Pakistan’s Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi.The Pakistani delegation includes Tahir Andrabi, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Nadeem Chaudhary and Joint Secretary Tariff Policy Ashfaq Khan. Officials from other ministries are participating virtually, Andrabi said.
 
The negotiations are focused on an “agreement on reciprocal trade”, although officials have not disclosed further details regarding the scope of the discussions or the issues under consideration.No official statement on the outcome of the negotiations has yet been released.
