The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has finalised contracts with seven international suppliers for the import of 365,000 metric tonnes of wheat at $348.83 per tonne, while launching a fresh tender for another 185,000 tonnes.
The second tender is aimed at completing the government’s revised wheat import target of 550,000 tonnes, down from the earlier plan of 750,000 tonnes after provincial governments reduced their estimated requirements.
TCP’s initial tender, issued on September 8, attracted 13 bidders when opened on September 16. Nine bids were found technically and financially responsive, covering a combined 656,000 tonnes, with quoted prices ranging from $348.83 to $369.95 per tonne.
Agrocorp submitted the lowest offer at $348.83 per tonne for 55,000 tonnes. TCP subsequently offered the same price to the other responsive bidders, with six additional suppliers agreeing to match the lowest rate. This resulted in contracts for a combined 365,000 tonnes.
Under the agreed terms, suppliers are required to ship the wheat between October 11 and October 31, with deliveries expected to reach Pakistan by November 20, 2026.
To cover the remaining requirement, TCP has invited bids for 185,000 tonnes of latest crop-year wheat on a CFR Karachi or Gwadar basis. The tender includes a ±10% MOLSO provision, while offers below 60,000 tonnes will not be considered.
The second tender is scheduled to open on September 28, 2026, with technical bids to be evaluated before financial bids from qualifying suppliers are opened.
TCP’s revised procurement plan reflects the provinces’ lower wheat requirements, bringing the total import target down from 750,000 tonnes to 550,000 tonnes.
