Oil set for second weekly rise as US-Iran conflict disrupts supply

Oil prices edged lower on Friday but remained on track for a second consecutive weekly gain, as the prolonged US-Iran conflict continued to disrupt crude supplies from the key Middle East producing region.

Brent crude futures fell 23 cents, or 0.3%, to $93.55 per barrel by 0142 GMT, after rising 2.4% in the previous session.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined 33 cents, or 0.4%, to $86.50 per barrel, following a 2.3% gain in the previous session.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the conflict is keeping supply risks elevated, supporting oil prices despite the modest decline in Friday’s trading.

The market remains focused on developments between Washington and Tehran, particularly the potential impact of further sanctions and disruptions to regional oil flows.
