The government has revised fuel prices effective August 6, increasing the ex-depot price of petrol while reducing the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Under the revised rates, petrol has been raised by Rs4.45 per litre to Rs333.01, while HSD has been reduced by Rs2.00 per litre to Rs383.86.
The adjustment reflects changes in international fuel prices and exchange rate movements under Pakistan's daily pricing mechanism, which is based on Singapore Platts benchmarks and currency fluctuations over the previous seven working days.
Meanwhile, the petroleum levy on petrol remains unchanged at Rs80 per litre, while the levy on HSD has been increased to Rs72.26 per litre. The Climate Support Levy remains at Rs5 per litre, and customs duties continue at Rs21 on petrol and Rs15.68 on HSD.
Separately, the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance has announced a nationwide wheel-jam strike on August 8, demanding lower diesel taxes and the restoration of fuel prices to their July 1, 2024 levels.
