Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the current government will complete its constitutional five-year term, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will remain in office throughout the tenure.
Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Naqvi reiterated that Pakistan's decades-old administrative system requires fundamental reforms, clarifying that his earlier remarks about the "collapse" of the system referred to the country's governance structure rather than the incumbent administration.
He argued that stronger institutional reforms would enable the government to deliver better results, while praising the prime minister's performance and highlighting improvements in tax collection, diplomatic engagement, and other reforms under the current administration.
Naqvi's earlier comments on governance and proposals for administrative restructuring sparked criticism from political parties and government allies. Opposition leaders and coalition partners questioned his remarks, while some called for reforms within existing institutions instead of creating new administrative units.
